Haas, Vincennes University Partner on Veteran Program
The CNC Machinist NOW program is designed to help U.S. military veterans gain skills and find employment in machining and manufacturing.

Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) Midwest, a division of Midwest Manufacturing Resources and distributor of Haas Automation equipment, has partnered with Vincennes University (Vincennes, Ind.) to create CNC Machinist NOW, a Warrior Training initiative for U.S. military veterans. Haas Automation is a sponsoring partner of the program.
“The CNC Machinist NOW program was developed to address two very specific challenges: the shortage of skilled CNC machinists and the high unemployment rate among military veterans,” says Doug Bowman, Vincennes University director. The 16-week training program launched in September teaches veterans and civilian adult learners comprehensive entry-level CNC machining skills.
The curriculum is designed around National Institute for Â鶹´«Ã½ Skills (NIMS) credentials. Its accelerated schedule is intended to help adult learners quickly gain the skills necessary for careers in CNC machining and manufacturing. According to Mr. Bowman, the program’s first class graduated in December and all graduates are currently employed.
The program runs three times per year with starting dates in early January, May and September.
