Haimer, Mapal Sign Licensing Agreement
Mapal will offer select cutting tools featuring Haimer’s Safe-Lock shank beginning in October 2016.

Haimer (Igenhausen, Germany) and Mapal (Aalen, Germany) have reached a partnership and signed a licensing agreement. In the future, the two companies will work together on the progression and further development of technologies and their applications in the manufacturing market. Through this agreement, Mapal has acquired a license to Haimer's Safe-Lock technology.
According to Andreas Haimer, managing director and president of the Haimer Group, the Safe-Lock system increases productivity and tool life. The system is also said to promote high-accuracy frictional-clamping through special drive keys in the tool holder and grooves in the cutting tool shank. This prevents the cutting tool from turning or being pulled out of the chuck during machining.
Starting in October 2016, Mapal will be offering selected cutting tools with the Safe-Lock shank. The company plans to follow with its hydraulic chucks, which will also be designed for this type of pull-out protection.
