The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) is inviting members to attend an informational webinar presented by the (STLE): “How To Remain Safe and Productive in Working with Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Fluids During the COVID-19 Pandemic.” The webinar is scheduled for July 29, 2020, at 1 p.m. ET.
is limited to 100, but a recording is planned to be made available to those who cannot attend live.
The webinar will address present practical information on proper procedures and safeguards for working with metalworking fluids during the pandemic. Topics will include:
- A presentation on virology and some background information on viruses, with a focus on the virus that causes COVID-19, SARS CoV-2. The presenter, Dr. Fred Passman, will also discuss whether the coronavirus can survive in metalworking fluids.
- Industrial hygiene issues, including how to minimize the risk of exposure to COVID-19 while dealing with metalworking fluids. Dr. John Howell will discuss common exposure pathways to the coronavirus, how to minimize risk in the working environment, system startups and cleanouts, and how incoming samples should be handled prior to analysis.
- The role of disinfectants in deactivating COVID-19, including basic information on what are disinfectants, how to use them and how to read disinfectant labels, presented by Bill Woods.
The webinar will conclude with a 30-minute Q&A session. Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance to Stefan Carrera, using the subject line “MWF COVID-19 webinar questions.” Upon completion of the webinar, the details will be summarized in an article to be published by STLE.
