Omax’s MicroMax abrasive waterjet system offers positioning accuracy of less than 5 microns and is now equipped with a Tilt-a-Jet cutting head to achieve virtually zero taper. Contributing to the machine’s high precision is the company’s linear traction drive system, which uses optical encoders. Protective bellows seal off all precision components inside the waterjet machine, and rigid construction is said to further enhance accuracy by minimizing vibration. An optional catcher tank cooling package keeps the water at a steady 72°F to prevent work material from expanding and contracting during machining.
The waterjet can machine virtually any material in a variety of thicknesses, the company says. A rotary axis accessory can be added to for full six-axis machining.
The MicroMax has a small footprint and a steel, epoxy-coated enclosure with sliding doors for quiet, clean machining. It also features a mobile workstation with easy-to-use controller software for convenient setup and monitoring capability.
