With the release of HyperConnect, Makino offers a suite of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) applications for EDMs designed to enhance user experience and efficiency as well as reduce machine downtime. Available on all the company’s EDMs equipped with Hyper-i controls, the suite enables shop managers and operators to monitor and control EDM processes from any PC, smart device or other Hyper-i control system on the network.
The suite’s four connectivity features help shop personnel monitor, plan and troubleshoot EDM operations. EDM Mail relays machine status information, including periodic interval updates and stoppage alerts, via email during unattended operation to help reduce downtime and support multitasking. The Machine Viewer permits networked access to the control’s operation screens, enabling operators to remotely view and process information from any PC or enabled smart device. The Machine-to-Machine Viewer gives operators remote access to view and control a networked Hyper-i EDM from another Hyper-i machine, preventing unnecessary foot traffic across the shop floor. The PC Viewer helps improve productivity by enabling remote access to software on a networked PC via the control, including access to CAD/CAM and shop tracking software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
