Geometric’s DFMPro Version 2.0 for SolidWorks facilitates upstream manufacturability validation and identification of design aspects that are said to be difficult or expensive to manufacture. The tool has advanced, built-in design rules for validating manufacturing processes such as milling, drilling, turning and sheet metal fabrication. It can also be customized to adhere to specific design rules.
Preprogrammed rules for sheet metal fabrication allow users to validate designs, and the system generates reports as eDrawings files, which allow manufacturing guideline violations to be viewed offline in 3D. Assemblies of multiple parts can be validated using a single run of the software.
Within the software’s customization framework, a macro generates feature count and parameter information as well as gross part parameters for models in a tabular format.
