Unison’s version 7 software package is designed for automated blank preparation using the Model 2150 CNC DedTru grinding system. This Windows-based software requires the operator to enter the basic tool characteristics of the shape to be ground, and the machine’s control will automatically calculate the required wheel geometry, dressing locations and grinding parameters. The software calculates the required offsets and determines the best method for grinding the blank.
According to the company, the software offers ease-of-use by simplifying the most complex blank geometry. The grinding system is equipped with “in-process” wheel dressing capability for conventional aluminum oxide and superabrasive grinding wheels. When equipped with an optional on-board electric dresser, the machine can also dress complex profiles in both diamond and CBN grinding wheels.
The software features a 15" high-resolution touchscreen display and a larger operator’s console. Also, a real-time 3D parts simulator allows the operator to view blanks prior to grinding.
