Valenite LLC introduces the V200, a heavy-duty, button-style mill for facing and profiling. The tool utilizes VP2003 round inserts with MicroForm carbide-grade technology, which enables inserts to be direct-pressed with a micrograin structure. According to the company, the hard carbide grade maintains sharp edge conditions in work-hardening materials.
Suited for hardened steels, heat-resistant super alloys and titanium, the mill is designed for die and mold, aerospace and general engineering applications. It can also be used for ramping and helical interpolation of pockets and holes. With increased feed in pocket roughing, cutting depths to 0.400" and round inserts with 7-degree clearance, the mill is resistant to breakage and chip re-cutting, the company says. It is also capable of increased feeds and tool life, even in interrupted cuts.
According to the company, positive insert geometries with negative rake angles make the mill strong and productive. The mill is available with 8 to 12 indexes (depending on depth of cut) for precise insert positioning, the company says. It is also available in high-performance grades VP5020, VP5040, VP1020 and VP5135 for steel, stainless steel and cast iron applications.
