CNC Software’s Mastercam X3 is designed to increase machining flexibility by emphasizing on speed and automation. With feature-based machining, high speed tool motion and faster toolpath generation, X3 is said to improve shop-floor productivity.
The software’s feature-based machining capability allows automatic milling and drilling of solid models because it can evaluate a part’s features and automatically develop a machining strategy.
The high speed machining capability is expressly for 2D machining. It is said to create high cutting and milling speeds, quality surface finishes and longer tool life. According to the company, the software also enables faster multi-axis tool paths with enhanced control.
The software can bring tool paths directly into SolidWorks. This allows designers using SolidWorks to program those parts using X3 in the same interface. Other enhancements include the ability to import full SolidWorks history trees, expanded support for cutting STL files, CAD enhancements and 3D high-speed toolpath enhancements.Â
