CAM Software Features Updated Compass Technology

VISI 18, the latest CAM release from Vero USA, features updates to compass technology and drilling cycles, consolidated rapid movements and extended origin management.   Compass technology now offers attribute tools that enable users to resolve conditions where general, multi-step features have to be processed in relation t the sequence of attributes associated to any step.

VISI 18, the latest CAM release from Vero USA, features updates to compass technology and drilling cycles, consolidated rapid movements and extended origin management.
 
Compass technology now offers attribute tools that enable users to resolve conditions where general, multi-step features have to be processed in relation t the sequence of attributes associated to any step. Also, a new “bottleneck” feature determines the smallest distance between two or more sides of a geometric feature so that users can identify the smallest viable tool diameter or define other machining variables for that feature.
 
Users with compass can take advantage of new drilling cycles that can be easily assembled to create complex, multi-operation cycles, the company says. A new application wizard guides users through the setup process for these cycles.
 
Additionally, all rapids, clearance planes and transition planes have been consolidated among the drilling, 2D base and 2D high speed machining operations. According to the company, this improves control, maintains product consistency and provides full support from the compass technology.
 
Finally, extending origin management enables users to have an “owner” application for the origin. The company says the most important benefit from this enhancement is that CAM setups will be CAM-project dependent. Other WPL changes include the ability to order by name, edit the WPL by name and, if no CAM project is assigned, to save a WPL over an existing WPL.
