SolidCAM2008 R12 CNC software includes more than 100 new features. The software's enhanced Automatic Feature Recognition and Machining capability (AFRM) supports automatic recognition and machining of multi-level closed and open pockets in a solid model. It offers an extended tool table for milling and links to external tool management systems. Added CAM operations and functionalities include 2.5D milling operations (face milling, T-slot and 3D contour); combined strategies for high speed machining; sub-operations for five-axis simultaneous machining, such as swarf milling and impeller machining; combined Solidverify and machine simulation; and associativity and machine simulation for mill-turn machines. The software also offers a new interface for milling and turning and automation through the use of templates.
