Mahr Inc’s MarSurf contour drive (CD) is the first in a series of surface finish and contour measurement systems. It has been designed for speed, flexibility and precision, said to improve the manufacturing quality of a broader range of workpieces with faster throughput and higher accuracy. The system enables measurement of the shape of a surface and provides dimensional information such as angles, depths, distances and radii.
The product’s design is said to increase the speed of the moving axes and reduce the cycle time of the measurement process. The drive units move the contour probe with positioning speeds as fast as 200 mm/s. All Z-axis columns on the measuring stands are programmable for positioning speeds as fast as 50 mm/s, which the company says is twice as fast as previous systems.
