Via a bus, the control can manage a high number of axes and large data volumes with short cycle times, the company says. Modular and mechatronic machine concepts provide flexibility, and the unit can communicate with other controllers such as OPC servers or the service programming device. This allows complex and modular machine tools, such as those found in the aerospace industry, to be operated simply despite being distributed across large areas, the company says. For workpieces that requireÌýdistributed automation components, intelligent I/Os and positioning drives, connection via W-LAN allows simultaneous wireless transmission of diagnostics data and the display of important operating parameters.

Modular, object-oriented plant concepts are supported via Profinet CBA, enabling controller-to-controller communication between machine tools in real time. Additionally, communication interfaces can be connected wirelessly to remote service centers using GPRS, allowing control of plants and machines regardless of location.
