Tungaloy Corp. introduces the TetraMini-Cut, designed to provide high-precision and quality in grooving and threading of small parts. Its ground insert, with four corners, is well-suited for high-precision and high-quality machining of small parts. The insert pocket protects unused corners from chip damage during machining, enabling the use of every corner of each insert, the company says. A clamping system improves rigidity and repeatability. It is also capable of undercutting and finishing a flange wall, while simultaneously grooving on the shaft along the flange wall. The insert screw can be tightened either from the front or the back of the toolholder, which is designed to simplify the operation when mounted in a Swiss lathe.
Grooving inserts with widths ranging from 0.013" to 0.118" (0.33 to 3.00 mm) are available in SH725, a versatile PVD coating. Threading inserts with pitches ranging from 0.031" to 0.118" (0.8 to 3.0 mm) are available in AH725, the company’s PVD grade for a variety of materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron and heat-resistant alloys.
