GF Machining Solutions offers the AgiesCharmilles Cut E 350, incorporating a range of technologies designed to increase flexibility and accelerate time to market for medical manufacturing. These include a large-touchscreen human-machine interface (HMI) featuring onboard Intelligent Collision Protection, built-in machining strategies and flexible job management. Information about geometries, machining processes and command programs is processed in a single file, enabling jobs to be transferred between different machines within the Cut E series. Additionally, more than 10 automated measurement cycles are available to assist with workpiece preparation. The machine’s onboard AC CAM Easy system enables the operator to prepare ISO files and post-process them into a job during machining.
This EDM series features the Intelligent Power Generator (IPG) to improve cutting speed, precision and surface quality. The machine can use dedicated wire for decreased part cost and increased throughput, and its Power-Expert modules automatically determine the optimal power to send through the wire, which the company says can be especially beneficial for stepped medical parts. The Corner Strategy module automatically adjusts parameters during changes in direction to produce sharp angels and small radii. These features combine to reduce cutting times. The machine can use an optional large, 25-kg spool to facilitate automation and unmanned machining. It also features a reliable wire circuit system for perfect unrolling that does not disrupt the EDM process.
The machine features a compact, space-saving, stacked-axis design as well as “wet bases” that incorporate the dielectric tanks within them, all of which promote rigidity and cutting accuracy, the company says. Integrated glass scales on the Cut E 350 preserve long-term, repeatable accuracy, require no recalibration, and eliminate errors found in traditional screw systems due to backlash and wear, the company says.Drop doors provide easy, convenient access to worktables, and side-by-side filters are easily accessible to speed and simplify maintenance.
