Geometric Limited offers CAMWorks for Solid Edge, an embedded CAM solution for Siemens PLM’s Solid Edge 3D design software. CAMWorks is embedded within Solid Edge and uses synchronous technology, enabling users to make rapid, on-the-fly edits to any CAD file in the machining environment. The parametric, solids-based CNC programming system uses feature recognition technology in conjunction with full toolpath-to-solid-model associativity and knowledge-based machining. Feature recognition runs in real-time to capture machined features and automatically generate or update the tool path, and manufacturing-driven design changes can be made to CAD models using synchronous technology capabilities to streamline the process.
The program is directly accessible in the Solid Edge window for a consistent user interface that eliminates file transfers. The machining strategy is captured in Tech DB, a customizable database, so that efficient machining solutions can be applied to future designs with similar features. The program is said to be easy to use while increasing productivity and efficiency.
