NT Tool’s Hyper Spindle use a 1-to-5-ratio internal gear system to multiply existing machine spindle rpm by as much as five times at the cutting edge, with a maximum of 30,000 rpm. It increases tooling revolutions and reduces cycle times without the need to invest in a new machine, the company says. Since the unit does not use a pneumatic system requiring an air hose, it is fully compatible with automatic toolchangers.
Made with precisely-ground steel gears to ensure minimal noise and vibration and built-in cooling fan to prevent overheating, the unit enables long, uninterrupted machining cycles without fear of breakdowns, the company says. An electromagnetic rustproof coating prevents abnormal wear, and enables the holder to maintain its accuracy throughout tool life.
The Hyper Spindle uses NT Tool’s 12-degree taper FDC collets, which are said to grip the cutting tool more evenly, increasing gripping force and reducing slippage. The even grip also keeps runout below 5 microns. The spindles are available in CAT and BT shanks, with other custom shanks available. Collet sizes accommodate tool shanks ranging from 0.5 mm to 12 mm (0.020" to 0.472").
