Filtration Unit Prevents Chip Buildup in Coolant Tank Circulation

MP Systems has launched a coolant filtration system designed to prevent chips from accumulating inside a machine tool’s coolant tank and causing coolant starvation of the flood pump and high-pressure coolant pump. The Purge system is a full-flow system that pulls coolant from the dirty side fo the coolant tank, filters it, and returns it to the clean side of the coolant tank faster than the flood and high-pressure pumps draw from it.
The unit was developed in response to the tendency of small chips to either pass through or clog the screen separating the clean from the dirty side of a typical machine tool coolant tank. When this happens, chips accumulate, reducing coolant volume so that the flood pump starts sucking air, which can result in the triggering of a machine alarm and downtime.
