YCM’s DCV2018A-5AX is a five-axis, double-column VMC well-suited for applications such as special circular machining, multi-angle machining, multi-face machining and curve machining in industries including automotive and die/mold, energy and aerospace.
The machine features an 18,000-rpm, HSK A63 spindle with X, Y and Z rapid feed rate of 24, 30 and 20 m/min (86.6", 94.5" and 30"), respectively, with an option for a Z-axis extension. The spindle power of 70 kW (94 hp) is designed for high chip removal rates and high-power machining.
A reinforced, double-column structure with smooth operation and low vibration is designed to enable better finishing and extend tool life, the company says. The internal, double-A type ribbed-bed design offers full support for the table so the force can be distributed to the foundation. Roller linear guideways on all three axes and multiple oversized slider blocks are said to provide improved cutting characteristics in many material types. The Y axis is designed with a large span in horizontal and vertical directions in order to withstand the headstock weight and machining force that promote optimal cutting conditions.
The five-axis milling head uses a direct-drive motor with resolution of 0.001 degrees, and a rotary speed of 100 rpm. The machine also features cross roller bearings with high rotation accuracy that are capable of accommodating bearing loads in every direction, says the company. A Heidenhain encoder is standard for positioning the B- and C-axis headstock for high accuracy functionality. Additional features include a pneumatic positioning clamping system, over-travel protection and B-axis anti-drop function at power outage.
