Designed for small-lot production of complex parts, Methods Machine Tools’ Matsuura five-axis VMCs feature Cublex technology. This technology integrates turning and grinding functions into a single, high-performance milling platform to deliver speed, power, accuracy, increased tool capacity and multi-process machining capabilities, the company says. In addition, the technology provides machining versatility, such as the ability to change as many as 40 chucks automatically as an ATC lathe or milling machine.
The Cublex 25 PC 40 features a maximum work size diameter of 9.8" (24.89 cm) and height of 9.8" (24.89 cm). It also features 5.2" (13.21-cm) pallets and a 40-pallet changer. The larger Cublex 42 PC24 features a work envelope measuring 16.8" (42.67 cm) in diameter and 14" (35.56 cm) in height. This machine features a 24-pallet changer with 12.8" (32.51cm) round pallets.
Both machines are said to provide accurate, reliable pallet/tool options with standard spindle speeds are 15,000 and 12,000 rpm, respectively, and both machines are available with an optional speed of 20,000 rpm.
