The NUMgear suite of gear production software now includes a CNC solution for fully automating threaded wheel grinding. Designed for machine tool manufacturers seeking to improve performance of gear production machines or expand gear manufacturing ranging with threaded wheel grinders, the CNC system is said to reduce grinding machine threading-in times and accelerate throughput.
The system is now able to predict the acceleration of axes as well as their speed in order to minimize synchronization time. A high-performance electronic gearbox enables full synchronization of all master axes, such as the grinding, X, Y and Z axes with a C-axis spindle. A new “fast gear alignment” function eliminates the need for acoustic emission sensors for threading-in the grinding wheel. According to the company, the function enables automated grinding wheel positioning and production.
