Version 27.1 of Siemens PLM Software’s Parasolid software is said to simplify complex modeling tasks that previously required multiple steps into single operations, promoting efficiency. The release reduces the number of operations for blending, surfacing and imprinting capabilities, and is compliant with the Microsoft Security Development Lifecycle set of security standards.

Extended control over the shape of blends enables end users to achieve the exact shape required for functional or aesthetic purposes. Blending enhancements enable easier control of the profile of G2 face blends by providing constant depth and skew values, the company says. With the new release, variable-radius edge-blend parameters can be defined over a chain of edges or edge by edge for a smoother result.

The software’s surfacing enhancements enable capabilities such as replacing sharp mitered corners created by sweeping a profile along a sharp non-G1 path with rounded corners; aligning the parametrization of extruded surfaces with the extrude direction; and optimizing parameterization of a new face that replaces a set of faces. Users are also able to sweep a profile along a path with the option to extend the path beyond one or more faces used to lock the profile. Otherwise, users can sweep a solid tool along a path and specify a certain face or set of faces of the tool as unimportant to the result and replace their sweep with a simpler capping surface.
