Toyoda Machinery offers its FA1050S 5-Axis trunnion-style horizontal machining center featuring high power, solid construction and high radial capacity. This machine provides a 60-hp, gear-driven spindle with 963 foot-pounds of torque for speeds ranging to 6,000 rpm. The company’s replaceable spindle taper increases uptime, enabling the operator to switch out just the taper instead of the entire spindle. Cutting feed rates range to 15 m/min. in all axes. The X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measure 59.1" × 55.1" × 45.2" (1,500 × 1,400 × 1,150 mm). The machine can store 60 tools, with optional configurations for 190, 240 and 384 tools.
The dual-drive trunnion table supports heavy workpieces ranging to 4,400 lbs, maintaining performance with a low center of gravity and side-by-side pallet exchange. The table indexes in the A axis from -100 to +15 degrees in increments of 0.0001 degree. Symmetrical box casting of the column minimizes thermal displacement, while dual Y-axis ballscrews along with tandem control functions ensure synchronization. Pallet size is 41.3" × 41.3" (1,050 × 1,050 mm).
