Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division, offers its Teamcenter PLM software. The system focuses on individual, application and IT productivity and features with a variety of enhancements. It also supports IBM software, including DB2 information manager, WebSphere application server, Tivoli access manger, Tivoli storage manager and Rational ClearCase.
The PLM software is said to extend individual productivity via an extensive Microsoft Outlook user interface and integration with Microsoft Office 2007. According to the company, the software can reduce product development cycle time by enhancing collaboration and making product design data more easily accessible, secure and reusable.
With its unified architecture and robust set of applications, the software allows companies to implement end-to-end PLM, the company says. Its broad and deep portfolio of seamlessly integrated modules is designed to improve efficiency at each stage of a product’s lifecycle. This application productivity continues with the introduction of two new application solutions, new industry solutions and hundreds of enhancements across the entire portfolio, the company says. The PLM software now includes solutions for Content and Document Management as well as Formula, Package and Brand Management.
Built on open technology and designed for scalability, the software is designed to improve IT productivity by providing a greater return on a company’s IT investment. The Platform Extensibility Services enable organizations to realize value from their investment quickly and cost effectively, the company says. These include configuration services for tailoring the software to an individual business without developing costly custom systems; connection services for seamless integration with other enterprise applications (including ERP and other Teamcenter installations; and customization services to meet specialized business needs.
