Sandvik Coromant says a new insert size for the CoroThread 266 allows the rigid tool to be used in a majority of general threading applications. The new size 16 inserts complement the existing sizes 22 and 27.
The threading tool integrates the company’s iLock interface, which uses rails and grooves to create a rigid interface between the insert and holder. The secure insert clamping lowers cutting forces and increases precision and tool life. Using the interface, a range of thread forms can be accurately completed in fewer passes, the company says.
In addition to the new insert size, the threading tool line now includes the GC1125 insert grade. The grade’s composition features improved heat and wear resistance, the company says. In threading applications, this increases precision during extended time in a cut and reduces the number of passes necessary to meet required tolerances.
The threading tool is suited for high-precision, symmetrical cutting in a variety of industries and across a range of materials. The product’s full insert range includes full profile, V-profile and multi-point varieties.
