Jenoptik's F-Theta Lens Withstands Kilowatt-Powered Lasers

The new F-Theta lens for 532-nm applications from Jenoptik is the second high-power lens in the company’s Silverline lens portfolio meant for use in the green wavelength range. The company says it designed the solid-fused silica lens especially for high-volume electronic production processes, such as PCB depaneling, that use ultrashort pulse lasers.
Jenoptik says the F-Theta lens’ low-absorption fused silica and high-quality coating allows it to withstand ultrashort pulse lasers and lasers with power outputs up to the kilowatt range. The lens sports a focal length of 163 mm and a minimum spot size of 13 μm, as well as a scan field of up to 65 x 65 mm for processing workpieces. The specially engineered lens design and mounting promote the full performance of the lens by preventing back reflections.
The company says its Silverline lenses see use across many sectors in applications like ablating, drilling, welding or soldering of high-precision structures in plastics and metallic compounds. It also says these lenses offer a high damage threshold as well as high-precision and reproducible working results.
