The Rofin-Sinar Profile Welding System (PWS) provides a turnkey laser welding solution for high speed tube and roll form applications. The system’s modular design enables adaptation to customer needs and integration into existing production lines performing continuous, high speed seam welding. The welding system is suitable for applications such as stainless steel tube mill installations and customer roll-form operations.
The laser welding system is equipped with a Rofin weld sensor system featuring a process sensor, precision linear actuators and camera vision to automatically position the laser beam and maintain consistent material fusion. According to the company, the system can achieve welding speeds as fast as 60 m/sec. System parameters such as laser power, workpiece gap monitoring and standoff can be controlled and adjusted on the fly. The system is available with CO2 slab lasers providing 8 kW output power for thicker materials with larger weld seam widths, or with FL-series fiber lasers suitable for welding thinner materials.
