The X-class machines from DMG/Mori Seiki build on the performance of the company’s N series. These competitively priced machines offer enhanced quality and energy efficiency while providing measures against thermal displacement for cutting accuracy, the company says.
 
The machines are available in a variety of models. The NLX2500 series of CNC lathes provide increased rigidity and tool life for heavy-duty cutting applications. The NVX5000 series of vertical machines employ slideways in all axes to provide vibration-damping performance and dynamic rigidity. In addition, a heat-symmetrical spindle structure is said to minimize thermal displacement. The NHX series of horizontal machines is said to enable high speed, high accuracy machining and feature a rapid traverse rate of 60 m/min. The NTX series of integrated turn-mill machines is suited for complete machining of small, precision parts.
 
The machines minimize power consumption by stopping the spindle, servo motors and fans inside the control panel during standby conditions. LED lights and a hydraulic unit with an accumulator also reduce power consumption. The machines use the company’s MAPPs IV operating system, which includes such standard functions as automatic conversational programming. Esprit CAM software is standard on NTX turn-mill machines.
