Handtmann’s PBZ HD profile machining center provides full, five-axis simultaneous machining for long workpieces of composite, aluminum and steel, and enables interference-free contouring and precise machining throughout the profile length ranging to 30,000 mm.
The machine is designed for machining of aluminum profiles ranging to 6,000 mm in length with X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measuring 7,250 × 1,500 × 1,000 mm. Travel speeds range to 70 m/min. in the X axis and 40 m/min. in the Y and Z axes. The 3,000-rpm spindle provides a maximum of 58 kW. Integrated chip management over the entire machine length eases removal of high volumes of chips generated in the machining process. Other features include Siemens 840D SL control, a tool magazine with 36 tool positions and an integrated 400-mm-diameter saw blade.
The machining center supports interference-free machining on all five sides of the part with a single clamping including milling, sawing, drilling, thread milling and cutting. It is equipped with an integrated CNC-controlled clamping system for reduced non-productive times, a variable number of clamping vises and workholding fixtures with integrated media supply. The machine’s use of a dovetail clamping option also enables rapid change of heavy and long workholding fixtures. Customers may choose between a clamping vises version with a maximum workpiece cross-section of 800 × 300 mm, or a table version for profiles ranging to 800 × 575 mm.
