Trumpf’s TruMark 5070 fiber laser is said to provide increased output power and a higher repetition rate for faster processing speeds. The system’s high pulse frequency makes it well-suited for deep engraving metal or ceramics, ablation and high speed laser marking of metals and plastics.
The fiber laser features a scanner unit and automatically detects the focal position. A camera system enables the user to position the laser beam on the workpiece, which is said to be beneficial for frequently changing parts or when marking levels vary in height within a batch of components. Sensors automatically detect the position of the component to be marked, and the system will modify the marking process if the part is improperly positioned or turned.
The marking system is suitable for a variety of applications, including processing plastics, creating continuous marks on long cables, and the ablation of coatings over large surface areas for cleaning or preparation for processing. According to the company, the system is especially effective for labeling parts with a data matrix or bar code to enable traceability over the life cycle of a component.
