Sharp’s Mini Mill series of VMCs features a 6 sq. ft. footprint and is fully enclosed. It uses hardened and ground boxways and features X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 24" × 12" × 18".
The series includes three models. The standard SV-2412 is equipped with a 10-station armless toolchanger, and it uses an 8,000-rpm, CAT 40 spindle powered by a 10-hp Fanuc motor. The SV-2412S model is equipped with a 16-station armless toolchanger, and it uses a 10,000-rpm CAT 40 spindle powered by a 15-hp Fanuc motor. Both machines are equipped with the Fanuc 0i Mate-MD control with color LCD. The SV-2412SX model features a 24-station side arm toolchanger; a 10,000-rpm, CAT 40 spindle powered by a 15-hp Fanuc motor; and the Fanuc 0i-MD control with color monitor.
According to the company, the series is designed for heavy cutting and high accuracy. It uses a heavily ribbed Meehanite base and column castings. All axes use hardened and ground boxways with double-anchored, pre-tensioned ballscrews.
