The G Series cam machines from Schütte, the company’s smallest multi-spindle automatics, are designed for high efficiency and speed and feature a bar capacity of 20 mm. The machines have six or eight main spindles and are often run as 2 × 3 or 2 × 4 spindle production machines. Simple workpieces can be produced at a cycle time of less than 1 sec. With auxiliary functions such as CNC compound slides and/or CNC pickoff spindle, the machines are designed to handle complex, high-precision components.
Other features on the G machines to increase production efficiencies and process capability are the mineral granite base to reduce thermal expansion, the SWS400 presettable tooling system, and independent motor drives that take the place of gearing for free speed selection and stopping in the pickoff spindle, or for tapping operations. The SG18 six-spindle is a hybrid of cam and CNC.
