The Marposs Mida Diamond line of machine tool touch probes and tool setters has been developed to control the entire production process in all of its phases, from workpiece setup and inspection to tool presetting and control. The products are designed for industries that require high-accuracy control of very complex machined surfaces, such as those found on aerospace, biomedical and dental, die/, and micro-manufacturing components. According to the company, advantages include reduced machining and checking times, increased production efficiency, reduced production rejections, and constant machining quality level during the entire production process.

The company says its touch probes use piezoelectric technology for effective feature measurement. The probes are available with wired, optical and radio transmission methods.

Its Visual Tool Setter (VTS) implements a vision technology for tool checking using a video camera to detect tool dimensions, in particular those of micro tools and for complex measurements. VTS can be used together with dedicated measuring software for checking a wide range of tools, enabling repeatability of less than 1.0 micron.
