Probe Combines Strain-Gage And Frequency-Hopping Technologies
Share

The RMP600 touch probe combines high-accuracy strain-gage sensing and frequency-hopping spread-spectrum (FHSS) radio transmission technologies for complex 3D part measurement on machine tools. According to the company, the design allows part-checking precision on parts with聽contours, deep cavities, undercuts and other obstacles or features that can block transmission of optical line-of-sight probes. The company鈥檚 RenGage strain-gage technology combines a custom sensing mechanism and advanced electronics to deliver sub-micron unidirectional repeatability鈥攕uch as 0.25 碌m with 50-mm stylus. Unlike fixed-channel radio probes, the touch probe and its RMI receiver hop together through frequencies to a clear channel, avoiding Wi-Fi interference on electrically noisy plant floors.
