Production Cell With VMC And Six-Axis Robot

The JobShop Cell is a fully-integrated production cell that combines the milling, drilling and tapping capability of a RoboDrill VMC with a six-axis Fanuc LR Mate 200iC robot for automated part loading/unloading. Pre-engineered to meet a shop’s need for fast setups and quick change-overs when processing small- or medium-size lot sizes, the production cell is configured to accommodate virtually any part that will fit in a 6" vise or chuck, the company says.  The VMC at the heart of the cell offers a 14-tool ATC (a 21-tool ATC is available). Its spindle delivers maximum torque of 56 foot-pounds and allows rigid tapping to 5,000 rpm (8,000 rpm optional). The VMC features 1.5G acceleration in X, Y, and Z axes; rapid traverse rates of 2,125 ipm; and feed rates to 1,181 ipm (2,362 ipm optional).  The cell has inbound and outbound conveyors and guarding as well as a standardized work-handling interface that accommodates a variety of hydraulic or pneumatic workholding options. An optional fourth axis and a workholding fixture are available. The high speed, six-axis robot comes with grippers, a teaching pendant and programs that can be customized to meet users’ needs.
