Fagor Automation has updated the features of its free CNC simulator for Fagor’s 8060/8065 CNCs, including the addition of a library of sample programs for both milling and turning. Fagor says the addition helps ease the learning curve for new users. The simulator offers other capabilities, including a powerful and intuitive editor that enables users to create programs offline using a host of software tools.

As an advanced feature, the user can set up the simulator identically to the particular machine tool’s configuration, including the type of machine, its axis travels and machine dynamics. The simulator will also take into account the feeds and acceleration of the machine tool during simulation, thereby providing accurate cycle time estimates and easing variable experimentation to try to improve those times. Upon creating a program, users may quickly upload and download it to the CNC machine tool. 

The simulator is available for most conventional milling and turning machine tool configurations, but a commercial version capable of more advanced machine configurations is also available. The software is designed to be a useful tool for technical training, editing/simulation for design, machining cycle time estimates and quotation preparation, and shopfloor program creation while the machine is in active operation.
