Kawasaki’s RS007N and RS007L six-axis vertically-articulated robots are the latest additions to the company’s general-purpose R series of small- to medium-payload robots. The models offer different reaches but each has a payload capacity ranging to 7 kg. The robots are said to improve functional and environmental performance for assembly, material handling, machine tending and other applications.
A redesigned arm structure and main unit weight reductions result in faster operating speeds (12,100 mm/sec.) and increased working ranges. The redesigned arm structure and ability to adjust the acceleration rates in accordance with load weights and robot positioning reduce cycle times and optimize performance.
The RS007N features a 730-mm reach, and the RS007L features a 930-mm reach for flexibility in production facility layouts. A cantilever design for the upper arm section lengthens maximum reach and expands range of motion below, behind and in the immediate vicinity of the robot. The floor- or ceiling-mount models are designed to house vision cables, sensor harnesses, air lines and other components inside the arm structure to prevent interference with and from peripheral equipment, enabling operation in tight installation spaces. The robots feature a double-seal construction on all axes and waterproof electrical connections, offering an IP67 classification for the wrist and IP65 for the remaining axes.
