According to manufacturer Index Corporation, the Truab TNL12 sliding headstock automatic lathe achieves high production rates owing to simultaneous machining with as many as four tool carriers. To minimize nonproductive time, the machine features chip-to-chip time of 0.3 seconds as well as rapid spindle and axis positioning, the company says.
Ìý
Providing X- and Y-axis motion, the tool carriers include two turrets with six stations for fixed and driven tools, while a backworking station has five tool stations. For more capacity, the machine is available with a high-frequency spindle and three cross-machining stations. A frontworking attachment with a counterspindle includes four fixed or driven tool stations. This permits simultaneous machining on the main spindle at differential tool/workpiece speeds. The machine also includes fixed, driven or programmable guide bushings.
Ìý
The fixed headstock version of the machine is the TNL12K, which does not require a guide bushing. This model’s architecture isÌýidentical to that ofÌýthe sliding headstock version, and it also has the same programming, toolholders, chucks and collets. The TNL12 has a maximum bar capacity of 0.5" (13 mm) in the main spindle and to 0.6" (15 mm) in the counterspindle, while the TNL12K can accommodate bars as large as 0.6" (16 mm).
