The Mazak Vertical Center Nexus Compact is a space-saving, high-speed, VMC designed for small, complex medical parts in materials such as stainless steel, Inconel and titanium. Available in three- and five-axis versions, the VMC creates high-quality parts and surface finishes, the company says.
 
The five-axis model features a MATRIX 2 CNC control, which is designed to simplify part programming while increasing machining speed and accuracy. The three-axis model features the Matrix Nexus CNC control.
 
A high-torque, 20-hp, 12,000-rpm CAT 40 spindle and X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 19.69" × 15.75" × 12.99" (500.1 × 400 × 330 mm) provide power and versatility, the company says. An optional 40-hp, 20,000-rpm spindle is also available. 
 
A 65" × 88" (1,651 × 2,235 mm) footprint enables the VMC to fit into most facilities, the company says. The 25.6" × 15.7" (650.2 × 398.7 mm) table accommodates parts as heavy as 661 lbs. (330 kg). 
 

The machine’s three linear axes offer rapid traverse rates of 1,417 ipm (36 m/min.) and feed rates of 315 ipm (8 m/min). For additional productivity, the VMC accommodates 20 tools in its magazine (30 tools optional).
