Kitagawa NorthTech introduces its AS series of grinding steady rests, featuring narrow, retractable arms for easy automated part loading. The arms prevent interference with oil hole journals and provide easy vertical loading of the workpiece. Available in standard gripping diameters from 0.39" to 5.59" (10 to 142 mm), the rests can accommodate eccentric throw with body modifications for crank lobe clearance.
The steady rests are suitable for all crankshaft, camshaft and cylindrical grinding applications that require vertical loading, offering three-point adjustable centering capability for accuracy. Other features include modular regrindable carbide or relappable PCD work rest pads, and provisions to accommodate attenuating in-process gaging. They are also suitable for pass-through grinding capabilities. Steady rests are available with hydraulic or pneumatic actuation and automatic lubrication systems to maximize roller and cam arm life.
