Royal Machine says its steel-bodied, manual VTL chucks offer increased strength and wear resistance compared to cast iron models. Hardened, precision-ground master jaws and wedge increase accuracy and wedge-style gripping forces.
The large-diameter chucks, which are manufactured in sizes ranging from 24" to 72" in diameter, also feature readily replaceable pinion gears for added torque and improved chip protection to help reduce contamination and maintenance downtime. They are suitable for the medical, aerospace and energy technology industries.
In addition to the manual chucks, the company offers large-diameter power chucks in two-, three- and four-jaw configurations, as well as a combination two/three-jaw configuration, with both adjustable and non-adjustable master jaw styles. Six- and 12–jaw styles, as well as self-contained applications are also available.
Large load-bearing surfaces of the large-size power chucks reduce wear, increase accuracy and extend service life, the company says. Easy-access lubricating fittings in each master jaw and chuck body provide lubrication for wearing surfaces, and the large-diameter chucks’ basic design maximizes chip and coolant protection.
