Suhner’s BEX 15 spindle head has a maximum spindle speed of 23,000 rpm. Standard variations are equipped with electric motors of 0.55, 0.75 and 1.5 kW. An adapter flange enables the installation of multiple spindle heads and angle heads.
A timing belt drive multiplies the motor speed up to 13,050 rpm. An AC inverter drive can increase the spindle speed up to 23,000 RPM at 87 Hz. Standard motor mounting on BEX 15 machining spindles is in the rear, with optional front motor mounting available upon request. Additional options include frequency converter and direct-drive servomotor.
The driven head can be applied in axial and radial orientation, directly mounted to a Suhner linear slide assembly Type UA15-PH or UA15-CNC for operations such as milling or jump or peck feed drilling cycles.
Four optional toolholder systems (ER25, ISO30, HSK50 and Weldon) and standard air purge connections for spindle and belt housing, along with options such as coolant-through and automated tool-change features, make the BEX 15 adaptable to a variety of in-line machining requirements. The BEX 15 with HSK spindle includes an integrated four-point clamping system (form C) for manual tool clamping.
