Schwäbische Werkzeugmaschinen’s BA 322i HMC is designed to function as an independent cell, since a six-axis robot and pallet storage system are incorporated into the machine. The two-spindle HMC offers double the output with a smaller footprint and less energy consumption. Additionally, the pallet storage area can be refilled without having to stop the machine. The machine’s working area measures 300 × 450 × 375 mm with a spindle travel of 300 mm.
The company says that users in the automotive, medical and precision mechanics industries are following this approach to significantly lower part costs.
