Mastercut Tool Corp.’s V4 Ultra line of end mills combines variable-helix, four-flute geometry with a honed cutting edge and PowerN (nACo) coating.
The PowerN coating carries a blue to red color. At approximately 4,500 Vickers, the coating is tough. Performing best in rigid setups, it is said to be useful in applications involving superalloys, hard materials, and high-heat applications. According to the company, he coating reduces friction, enables increased speeds and feeds, and improves tool life. The end mill geometry is designed to interrupt chatter for gains in longevity, throughput and surface finish in materials ranging from cast iron to steel to titanium.
