MIE Docs from MIE Solutions manages company documents by creating a virtual drive on a network where employees can share the files using Windows Explorer. Right-clicking on folders or files enables a context menu system, which allows users to add, delete, check-in, check-out and manage virtually all attributes of the file.

Designed to solve problems associated with storing, managing, finding and tracking files used throughout an organization, the centralized system manages the risk and loss associated with files that can be lost or misplaced when stored on multiple personal hard drives and backups. It also serves as a business process automation system—saving a history of who altered a file and when it was changed, allowing for check-in and check-out with login-controlled access, and incorporating MRP, ERP, scheduling, shopfloor data capture, bar coding, job costing, quoting and estimating.

Features of this system include a true virtual drive that allows engineering CAD/CAM systems to take advantage of the document management; a context-sensitive menu that adds, checks-out and checks-in files; a directory that handles virtually linked documents; and an editing/viewing capability that is disconnected from the main repository.
