Designed to improve cycle time, Epson’s zero-footprint RS3 SCARA robot provides larger work envelope access for 450 degrees of axis rotation and omni-directional access. The robot features a 350-mm SCARA arm with a working quadrangle that is greater than that of a typical 750-mm SCARA arm, the company says, and it can easily be integrated into compact assembly cells.
The robot can change the arms’ attitude during linear interpolation. Uninterrupted straight line motions can be as much as two times greater than that of a comparable sized SCARA robot, the company says, and limitations on straight line motions are reduced.
The robot is equipped with a Micro PowerDrive RC180 controller and software and is said to be ideal for lab automation and other applications where large quantities of parts are presented to process or testing stations. Available options include Vision Guidance, .Net support, Profibus, DeviceNet, EtherNet/IP and more.
